The current moment, as Barbados transitions from a parliamentary constitutional monarchy to its new status as a Republic is an opportunity for reflection on the shared common wealth of experiences that describe and define this nation.

When Cabinet made its decision on 25th June 2020 to designate Block A at St. Ann’s Garrison as the first home for the National Gallery it was the second time it did so. In August 2001 the Cabinet, examined a report on six sites which had been evaluated as having the potential to accommodate this new national collection.
