Spirit of the Landscape I

Beneath a blue-sky stretching across the upper section of this painting, Ann Dodson paints sloping hills and fields dotted with trees and buildings. This scene gradually fades away into an expanse of tinted white and earth tones in the lower section of the panting. Framing this landscape is the illusion of frayed fabric, as though the image is coming away at the seams. This painted effect is employed again in the upper section of the piece with three swatches of fabric increasing in size from left to right are 'pinned' to larger canvas beneath
