A realism styled, head and shoulders portrait of Barbadian artist Basil Jones. Jones is wearing a baseball cap, glasses and a blue t-shirt, with a camera strap hanging around his neck. The reference to the camera is significant, as Basil Jones was a dedicated supporter of all art events, often documenting them through photography. In his career, Atkinson has created various portraits of artistic friends and peers, often intersecting the realist and abstract styles he employs in his work. Gifted to the National Art Gallery Collection by the artist in 2008.
