Barbados National Art Gallery Artist Grant
Since 2022, The Barbados National Art Gallery Board has offered one-time grants of up to BBD $5,000.00 to a Barbadian artist to support their invited participation in a regional or internationally curated exhibition, biennial / triennial or recognized art event.
Past Grantees:
2024: Ewan Atkinson
Ewan Atkinson was selected as a participating artist in the 6th Edition of the groundbreaking contemporary art triennial Prospect New Orleans, in November 2024. Prospect.6 holds the theme: “The Future Is Present, The Harbinger Is Home”.
2022-23: Versia Harris
Versia Harris was selected for the seminal biennial documenta fifteen which took place from June 18 until September 25, 2022 in Kassel. She was one of nine artists selected by the Trinidad & Tobago collective Alice Yard to exhibit work at documenta. The artists created site- and time-specific works in diverse media around the city during the biennial.
How to apply:
To apply to the annual BNAG artist grant, please submit the following to the Board of the Barbados National Art Gallery:
- A letter outlining the international exhibition you have been invited to exhibit in, and supporting evidence (notice of selection, link to online announcement of participating artists etc.). Please include in your letter how you foresee the funds being allocated (for example to support purchase of materials or travel).
- A brief budget outlining the breakdown of how the funds will be allocated (general estimations are fine). The BNAG are prepared to cover costs related to: travel, production, reproduction fees, equipment
- A current artist bio.

- Applications are open to Barbadian artists at any stage of their career.
- Grants are awarded annually on a rolling basis, the deadline for the application is December 31st of the preceding year.
