(Horsemen and Chariots) "Black Bone"

This diptych takes on a style similar to the style of the 1980's American painter Jean-Michel Basquiat. Here Ras Akyem uses a subdues colour palette of earth tones, black, white and red. On the other hand, the content is a bold and raw combination of text with painted imagery, and black and white xerox transfers. Reference is made to Greek culture and Christianity. Dominating the left panel is a brown female dog baring its teeth, head turned to the right. Included in the images on the left panel are two black feet roughly cropped just below the knee, repeated images of the sculpture of a bust, the print of a hand, and stylized figures.
