This watercolour, based on 19th C depictions, features a panorama of a cricket game on the garrison. Hawkins often created landscapes that either displayed a close understanding of the local reality of the society in which she lived, or a nostalgic rendering of a time before her. In this work, she imagines the diverse ways the Garrison Savannah was used for sports and leisure while the area was still occupied by the British Army. Figures can be seen in foreground watching others in middle ground playing a cricket game. The iconic buildings of the Garrison such as the clock tower can be seen in the background.
