Cliffs and Consett"s

n.d.

"Cliffs at Consetts" demonstrates Hamilton's preoccupation with capturing colour and the play of light. Although she primarily focused on portraits for most of her career, she was interested in depicting landscapes, an endeavour she found peaceful. The texture within this work speaks stylistically to impressionism, and gives a sense of movement and vibrancy along the cliff face. This is indicative of her style range for landscapes which also extended into scenes that showed influence of post-impressionism and fauvism.
